Xbox 360 Slopestyle in the Czech Republic for the second time
Preparations for the second year of freestyle mountainbike race X Box 360 Slopestyle are in full course.
P í s e k / CZ – Last year the city of Pisek saw more than thirty chosen riders who performed real wonders on artificial obstacles. The last years' best rider was Damian Širiški from the Czech Republic.
Písek is located in South Bohemia, not far from Ceske Budejovice, 200 km south of Prague. Although modern and up-to-date this beautiful city has also a very rich history. One of the oldest stone bridges in Europe is situated on the river of Otava that flows through the city. As the city centre is full of medieval buildings and other monuments, the modern Slopestyle event located in the city centre will be in high contrast with its historical atmosphere.
The race will take place on 20 September 2008 and it will be again an exclusive show. There are very few of similar events in the world. Slopestyle races on ski slopes or in established mountain bike parks is quite usual but to build a trail with artificial obstacles and dirt drops in the city centre is rather unusual. Last year 10 000 visitors saw this adrenaline event. This year the organizers thus want to prepare a amazing show where nobody will be bored, too. They are already working on new obstacles that will complete the current ones and the whole course will be altered in order to make it more attractive for both the riders and the visitors.
The start is located on Velké náměstí on a special 6 m high ramp, followed by a set of 11 more obstacles. Various sizes of take-offs, cases and spins, three big dirt jumps and also one elevated wall ride a narrow north-shore gangboard. The last obstacle will again be located above the surface of river Otava near the Stone Bridge on a special pontoon. This year will be a bit more extreme, the riders will have to fly over the open water when jumping over it.
40 chosen riders from the Czech Republic and abroad will show us what all can you perform on a mountain bike. The starting list of participants is in progress and the organizers want to make it as interesting as possible. A number of freestyle riders from overseas was therefore invited to participate. A support program will of course be set up from various adrenalin activities and also music that will play live (very live) especially on the final party in a club where the whole race will be closed.
